Crooklyn Roots

I tried this place for the 1st time today after reading plenty of reviews for weeks. Upon walking in the place did not seem welcoming the young lady at the counter seemed not to want to be there. She was very dry. I looked at the menu for a few minutes to see what I wanted she didn’t recommend anything, ask was it my first time etc. I actually made a statement just to see if she would engage about the curry chicken or jerk chicken and nothing. I placed my order curry chicken, peas and rice( I had maybe 4-5peas) and mac&cheese. The chick was semi-dry and they just smoother it in the curry sauce. The he peas and rice was mainly rice, and the mac&cheese was pounds and pounds of cheese. I may just went on an off day but for $17 dollars at least provide customer service. I have 2 stars becau

I really wanted to like Crooklyn Roots in Byron, GA, but unfortunately my experience didn’t live up to expectations. The biggest issue was that the food didn’t look or match what was advertised. The jerk chicken in the pictures looked like chicken legs with a dry rub, but what we received was chopped-up pieces with bones in them covered in a wet sauce. The flavor was decent (maybe a 4/5 for taste), but it wasn’t what I thought I was ordering based on the menu images. The plantains were also disappointing— not sweet enough and a bit dry. The Brown Stew chicken was the biggest letdown. Instead of hearty portions, it was mostly chopped-up bone with very little meat. For the price, it just didn’t feel worth it. Delicious Jamaican food! So happy there is a location here in Byron. I normally go to the one in Macon but now that I’m no longer going to school there I don’t have a reason to go to Macon. It was a delightful to find out that after I graduated I would still get the same delicious Jamaican food closer to my home.

Although the majority of the adverts here are for the vegan food, the Jamaican menu is really good. The portions are large. The medium portion fills the entirety of the take out box. Here on business, I came twice in one week. In my experience, the staff were very courteous and pleasant. Surrounding shops are a bit dilapidated, but this shop is clean and nicely taken care of.

Man I ordered salmon pasta and strawberry cake. First off, the salmon was overcooked and look nothing like it was advertised. The pasta was ok, at best. The cake tasted like it was freezer burned. It was awful. I threw that away. I wastes over 40 dollars for this, highly disappointed
