Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Stopped in with my buddy for breakfast, and I'm so glad I did. We both had the steak tips, hash brown casserole (absolutely delicious), pancakes that were scrumptious with extra butter and REAL maple syrup, grits, and biscuits with gravy (gravy was a bit thick but tasty). The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was down home family-friendly. I'll definitely make this my breakfast spot when I'm in town!

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is an iconic American restaurant chain whose menu is based on traditional southern cuisine. Each location cleverly resembles an old-fashioned store, with a porch and rocking chairs, while the inside is adorned with vintage decorations and knick-knacks. This was our first visit to Cracker Barrel (Mon May 26, 2025) and it was only a short Uber ride away from our hotel in Williamsburg, Virginia. We initially didn’t know what to make of Cracker Barrel - it was strange to enter the gift store when we’d come for food - but having seen a few adverts on TV we had an idea of what we wanted to sample. This is a busy Cracker Barrel! For a table of 5 on a Saturday at 12:30pm we were seated in 20minutes. Once seated we order our drinks and food. It took a hour for our food to arrive and on top of that our server disappeared to make a phone call during that hour. Which we didn’t even get our biscuits to hold us over until all the food was served, which I started suffering from a painful migraine because I had not eaten over a long period of time. This went from a great start with a clean facility, to customer neglect, and shoddy overall performance. The front of house staff was attentive and professional with customer concerns in the gift shop. We ordered harsh brown casserole and grandma’s breakfast platter. Which when the food arrived was delicious, and no one else at the table complained

It was around 7:00 p.m. when we stopped in. They seated us next to a bunch of tables that had not been cleared off the whole time we were there. It took a long time to get the food and when we did receive it it was lukewarm at best. I requested a coffee refill it took about 20 minutes I had to ask twice. Best cracker barrel is a perfect example why cracker barrel is going downhill fast. I do not recommend this cracker barrel can I have stopped at many traveling the East Coast.

For the price it is hard to beat a Cracker Barrel. The chicken breast was tender and juicy. The food was hot and cooked well. Wish the serving of broccoli was larger. The server was pleasant and kept our table well stocked. The restaurant was clean. There is a nice amount of Parking in the back for RV/buses.
