We went to Cracker Barrel for the wide assortment of hard to find candies to stuff into stockings this Christmas. We thought grabbing a early dinner would also be nice. I ordered a 4 piece fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The chicken wasn't fresh fried, it must have been sitting under lights, it was tough and dried out. The mashed potatoes had like a dried skin built up on the sides of the pan and mixed into the potatoes. Weird texture and no flavor like you'd expect, milk and butter creamy was absent. The white gravy was not a sausage gravy, but a tasteless white paste. The green beans were mush with the pervasive flavor of artificial bacon, though none was seen in the vegetables. My wife's meal was worse. She ordered a breakfast plate, the eggs were cooked fine, but th
Gave Cracker Barrel a shot after a few years due to a previous bad experience. All in all, it was an OK experience. The service was very helpful but the food was mediocre. Chicken and dumplings was good but barely had any chicken. Hash brown casserole was old and crusty so I had to send that back. Waiter said it all looked gross so that’s unfortunate because I was looking forward to it. Shepards pie has potential but needed more seasoning and vegetables. Biscuits were hard as a rock. Corn bread was ok but certainly not fresh. Basically we were hoping for more but left underwhelmed. Back to our CB hiatus.
We went to Cracker and Barrel old country store for Thanksgiving. Oh boy! It was an experience. The wait line was 2 hours , but still we did it . The food was amazing and the store was extra ordinary. We go some nostalgic candies , then some ornaments.
First time visit to Cracker Barrel after the logo and branding drama and really enjoyed the food and service. I ordered the Country Fried Steak with Gravy, Okra, turnip greens and a salad. It was very tasty and a perfect portion size. My daughter had Home style Fried Chicken with Mac and cheese and fried cinnamon apples. Good comfort food and a good price. We will be back!
First time trying their breakfast. Got their scrambled eggs with biscuits and gravy and all 3 meats. Didn’t think I would like the ham but, I believe that was the best one. Also got the iced vanilla coffee, it was okay.
