Cold Spring Bakery Connection

The tasty delights of Cold Spring’s famous bakery without needing to leave Waite Park/St Cloud. Cronuts go quickly when they are available on Fridays and Saturdays.

Running errands in St Cloud, and searching for fresh bagels for my son, flying in from Japan, so I decided to check CS connection. None. But looking at other choices in the store, picked out a couple rolls to try. Where are the apples in the Apple Fritters? I found 4 tiny bits(and I mean TINY-1/4”x1/4”). It was all dough! The peanuts on the peanut donut were stale and the blueberry Bismarck had, you guessed it, no blueberries. Just a dab of jelly in the center. The quality of your products is disappointing compared to the buns and cakes, etc. that we used to enjoy years ago. The service, also, was indicative of the overall quality, with bare hands, no tissue paper, and stuffing the rolls into an undersized box, smashing them all together. If you are from the Saint Cloud Area, then taking people you know from out of town or friends from the twin cities to this bakery is a MUST DO. Everything is made fresh and there is lots of selections to choose from. I have enjoyed over the years their dounuts, cookies and delicious baked goods. They also have GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS. This place is a treasured family tradition for many.

I had ordered a baby shower cake and did a 1 hour session to create it. We had ordered a blush pink cake and had requested fondant but we were told it would be too expensive. We did clarify price wasn’t an issue but then were told people do not like the taste of fondant. We did go a different frosting route. We emphasized that the cake would have to sit out a few hours before the shower and we were told that would be fine. For decoration we ordered a baby “blush” pink cake with baby blocks on the top. We want the blocks to say welcome baby Lynnea. We were given a hot pink cake and we were told it would need to be refrigerated. The top layer was super chunky as if the frosting was just slapped on. This place is great! Their donuts are the best I may have ever had. I know that’s a weird thing to say because donuts are all delicious thanks to all the sugar, but these are light and fluffy like no other, and the fillings are on an entirely different level than the stuff you find at large grocers and big box stores. I’d recommend them any day just for that!
