Amazing crispy skin. Garlic shrimp is delicious. Service is excellent and the attention paid to us was top notch. Pedro took great care of us. Coimbra is a flavor-packed experience you don’t want to miss. The citrus notes in the dishes cut through the richness of the fatty pork perfectly—it’s a match made in culinary heaven. Pair it all with a glass of their red sangria, and you’re in for a treat. Definitely try a bit of everything on the table! Pro tip: use the crispy pork skin to scoop up some rice and dip it into the salty, savory sauce. Don’t be afraid to get your hands messy—it’s all part of the fun and flavor.

We were so thoroughly impressed by our meal here on Saturday night that we ended up coming back two other times during a quick weekend trip to NYC. We even rode the PATH train into Newark FROM Manhattan on Sunday evening because we had enjoyed our first experience so much and knew we wouldn’t find a better meal. My boyfriend is Portuguese and has extremely high standards for the cuisine. We have been to Portugal multiple times and we agreed that the meals we had at Coimbra equaled the best meals we had across the Atlantic. Just like a true Portuguese place, olives and delicious rustic breads were served right away. (But unlike Portugal, there was no charge!) We where here for my wife's birthday 🎉 excellent food and ambience. I like the steak and seafood. I would love to comeback another great spot in Ironbound

Great authentic portuguese food. Amazing squid (grilled) and calamari, the food is always spectacular. Especially the cod fish items. Always pleasing to chat it up with the locals and the hostess. Parking can be a hassle if the lot is packed but never have a problem finding one nearby.
