CJ's BBQ: Burgers and Tenders

We recently stumbled across CJ’s BBQ and I’m really glad we did. Funny enough, I didn’t realize at first that I had actually had their food before at their Somers Point location, which I also enjoyed, but this visit absolutely sealed the deal for me. The BBQ was fantastic. I started with the loaded potato soup, which was hearty, rich, and full of flavor. You could tell it wasn’t just thrown together. For my main dish I had the burnt end brisket over mac and cheese with jalapeños, and it was outstanding. The mac and cheese was clearly homemade, not the boxed stuff, and it had great texture and flavor. The brisket burnt ends were spot on. Tender, smoky, and exactly what you want when you order burnt ends. Everything tasted fresh, well prepared, and like real BBQ done right. If you’re a BBQ

One word and 3 exclamation points..... DELICIOUS!!! Plus the following; We had one brisket sandwich with mac and cheese and one pulled pork sandwich with fries. What a tasty culinary treat! The staff was friendly and greeted us right away. The tables were clean and plentiful. There was good music playing as well. We would definitely recommend going (any time) being that they are open all year round. Thank you to all involved who made this a delicious lunch.

Was very excited to try this place because I love barbecue and there are no good spots in the area for it. Unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming. Everything seemed a bit “leftover” from the weekend: baked beans lacked flavor, sweet potato fries were not crispy, and the biscuit was dry. The pulled pork also seemed a bit dry and they don’t give you very much sauce. I also wanted to try their “Pigskins” special but that was unfortunately no longer available. Generous portions though!

Best ribeye cheesesteak from the shore to Angelos! fresh roll ribeye was prime and the caramelised onions sweet and tender!

Uppers perfect burger stand. Big fans of CJs in SP and this little BBQ burger stand fits right into our Upper Community. We have visited 4 times since they opened. Tried their special BBQ platters for the super bowl, burgers, and tenders. They are all banging. Out daughter loves the single smash burger w/ cheese.
