I was honestly surprised to find a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant tucked away here in Logan Heights! It’s such a predominantly Latino neighborhood, so finding this authentic Italian gem was a cool twist. The place was absolutely buzzy and packed on a Friday night. We ordered the calamari to start, followed by the lasagna, ravioli, and sombreri. The food is definitely delicious. One thing to note about the lasagna: there wasn't meat between the layers, just a meat sauce added on top. I’m guessing this is the true authentic Italian style, and it was tasty! Just be prepared for the bill and the portion sizes. It wasn't cheap—we spent over $150 for three of us on just pasta and an appetizer. The portions are on the smaller side (definitely not 'American size'), so keep that in mind if you'
Ahmayzing! I live with Celiac Disease and must eat gluten free. Eating out can be TRICKY. I’ve heard of Ciccia Osteria and when a friend did a CHAT GPT search for gluten free dining the name popped up again. Can I tell you a secret? I went not once but TWICE this week! First with friends then again for NYE with my hubby!! The ambiance is wonderful, all the staff offer amazing service. They have a regular menu, a vegan menu and a gluten free menu. I also must avoid eggs and dairy and was able to combo between the vegan and GF menu. I almost cried when I was served gluten free bread with an amazing dip of olive oil, basil, balsamic and roasted veggies. Do you know how often I get to enjoy bread with my dinner companions? Almost never! On my second visit we ordered the charcuteri
Ciccia Osteria is the kind of place that makes you question your entire relationship with Italian food. Like… have I even been eating pasta before this? We kicked things off with the beet and burrata salad. “It’s just salad,” I told myself. Wrong. It was exceptional. Creamy burrata, perfectly balanced beets, and enough flavor to make you reconsider ever ordering a side Caesar again. The tuna tartare? Ridiculously fresh. The kind of fresh where you assume someone in the back is still wearing waders. For mains, we went with the sombreri and the fusilli Ferrero arrabbiata with spicy soppressata. Absolute heat. The pasta was cooked exactly how it’s supposed to be, not Midwest “close enough” al dente. The arrabbiata had real spice, not the polite kind. The soppressata brought that perfect kic
Just wow. The most delicious pasta I’ve ever tasted. I ordered the seafood pasta with gluten-free fettuccine. It was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and better than pasta I’ve had in Italy. My friends ordered the seafood pasta and tiramisu (not gluten free) and said it was also delicious! The mista salad is also fresh and delicious. As a celiac, Ciccia has a separate gluten-free menu and is extremely careful about cross contamination (and brought out gluten free bread!) The portions are large. Depending on how hungry you are, two people can share a pasta dish. Service was fast and friendly. The owner came by to check on us personally several times. Ciccia has an elegant yet inviting atmosphere- it felt like we were dining in a happy Italian home. This was the perfect Christmas Eve meal! I
We stopped in for a drink and apps while exploring Barrio Logan. The cute patio area was divine and a nice little haven away from the busy street. The Antipasto had great variety and was huge! Definitely worth the price. Drinks were great too. Service is perfect - attentive but not too intrusive. We noticed Michelin signs in the window so will be back to try more of the menu!
