Chuy's

On October 7th, 2025 I went to a Mexican restaurant called Chuy's in Jacksonville, Florida. The restaurant was recommended by a friend that is from Jacksonville. The address is 4914 Town Center Parkway, Jacksonville, Florida (32246), and it is located in the St. John's Town Center, and you could see it from the road. They didn’t have outdoor seating, but their greenery was cut very nicely and in place. They served Tex Mex, so it was your usual Mexican restaurant you would go to back at home. It has lights around the ceiling on the outside, which gave me a very peaceful and nostalgic feeling. The lively surroundings and festive lights complemented the Mexican theme, giving the restaurant’s exterior a cheerful, colorful look. Chuy’s serves Mexican and Tex Mex styled food, which includes a wide range of classic dishes with many different specific touches. It is a very laid back restaurant where they sit you down and serve you. The majority of the entrees cost somewhere between $12 and $18, which was a pretty normal price range for this style of food. I was a little short on my tab, and the staff handled it with so much kindness and grace. No embarrassment, no judgment; just genuine humanity. The food was great, but the compassion shown meant even more. I won’t forget it, and I’ll definitely be back to pay it forward.

Food came fast but was not good. My sister got the steak fajitas and it was chewy and taste like soap the corn salsa had too much vinegar. My friend ordered a margarita that taste like straight sour mix. My chicken flutas was dry and taste like it was fried with old oil. Or server was good but will never eat here again. Food was horrible. I've eaten here before years ago and remember the food wasn't bad but they must have gotten a new cook.

I finally stopped by Chuy’s this afternoon after passing by it several times, and I’m glad I did. I had just walked out of Best Buy when I caught the smell of the grill and couldn’t resist. I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas, and both meats were tender with a perfect char, packed with flavor. The tortillas are made in-house, soft and fresh, and really brought everything together. I also tried their creamy jalapeño sauce, and it was fantastic, definitely something I’d come back for. All around, a great meal. I’ll definitely be going back.
