Chester's Chicken

I figured I’d give Chester’s Chicken a try since I was in the area for lunch, but it’s just not for me. There was way too much crust over the meat, which made it tough to enjoy, even though the spicy seasoning was pretty good. The service was mid—the young lady at the counter was expressionless, but at least she wasn’t rude. I ordered the chicken bites, and they were okay, but again, the heavy crust made them hard to eat. On the upside, the place was calm and clean, which gave it a nice atmosphere. Food prices were about average.

Never in my life have I experienced such a disappointing, soul-crushing, and wretched meal. Beyond the outdated gas station ambience, the food itself was abysmal. One would have to go out of their way to make chicken this bad- the serving sizes were comically small, and the chicken was extremely dry and overcooked. A meal at KFC or Popeyes would seem to be Michelin-star level if compared to the things that are being served at this Chester’s. This establishment is an embarrassment to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I’ll forever mourn the loss of the $15 or so dollars that I spent there.

I tried many chicken around and Chester's is the best. Also they use better ingredients than everywhere else. Bone in breast is my favorite. Crispy on the outside and soft and juicy inside. The service is always outstanding. The man who works there is very attentive and polite.

Wow! Bought the fried gizzards and fried livers on a whim! MAN THEY DID NOT DISAPOINT! Perfect seasoning! Those goodies lasted me for miles as I headed to SC. Had to catch them again on the way north back to NY. The chicken is delicious. This is a permanent stop for me between NY & SC.

Overall, the food was good. Service was very polite and friendly with a smile. Was there around 7:30pm. Bought the combo, chicken sandwich, Mac & cheese, biscuits, bbq sauce, and bought an apple pie. It was just under $12. Pros & cons list. Chicken sandwich Pro: Tasted good Con: was pre-made in bag under heat lamp, pickles needed more flavor, the chicken was sized for a slider, not a reg bun. Biscuit Pro: It did have a slightly moist, light buttery flavor and was ok. Con: It did have a slightly doughy taste but that can happen depending depending on how they are arranged on the sheet. Mac & Cheese. Pro: Really fantastic. Great cheesy flavor and loads of creamy cheese. Con: Just not enough. It was a 6 oz cup but not packed in, so 5-5.5 ozs. Apple pie.
