Charlie & Jake's Barbecue

Very impressed being the first time visit. The interior is beautiful. We came tonight for the Thursday fried chicken special. It was a 1/2 a chicken and I had to take a to go box home. The coke slaw was very creamy and delicious. Also had fried okra with ranch dressing for dip. It was very good and I would order again. My wife had the half rack or ribs and she took a to go box as well. The ribs are dry rub which is what we prefer. The fries my wife ordered were not as good. They were seasoned which we do not prefer. We will definitely return. The staff was excellent and very attentive.

We are on vacation so we stopped in for dinner. Great customer service, everything was clean and the food was really good. We ordered a Peach Smash from the bar, 1/2 rack of ribs with mustard potato salad, baked beans and hush puppies. Also the crispy spicy chicken breast sandwich with Mac & cheese and tangy vinegar slaw. Highly recommend.

Apart from the loud women at the bar, the atmosphere was fine. They were the only ones at the bar, so when the server noticed me, it seemed ok. I ordered a beer and then waited an excruciatingly long tome to get an appetizer. Got that and ordered dinner. I am a hush puupy fanatic. These were way over cooked. The “cinnamon butter” was more cinnamon than butter, which sucks because cinnamon doesn’t melt. The hush puppies were burnt and dry. The wings were dry. Their “hot buffalo sauce”? Just call it Frank’s and be done. What a disappointment.

Went in today to order a sandwich for my husband. I ordered the smoked cheesesteak sandwich with no mushrooms and onions. Bartender repeated back to me “just meat and cheese” and I said yes. Got it home to him and it had both mushrooms and onions on it. The Mac and cheese and sweet potato were fine. Just disappointed that I spent $19 on his meal and the bulk of it went in the garbage.

Haven’t been in so long and glad we did! Really wanted BBQ and they did not disappoint! Alyssa was amazing as a server! The wings were amazing! The cheddar biscuits were amazing!!! We will definitely be back!
