Met a friend for lunch at Charley Chesapeake Chophouse at Rio. We started with the cheddar bay biscuits - a little too savory and salty for us, but the poppyseed honey butter was excellent and definitely saved the bite! I went with the lunch combo (pick 2) - chose the single smash burger and rigatoni alla vodka. The burger had a great sear and was juicy and the house-made pasta had a nice chew with a creamy vodka sauce that had the perfect kick. At $14.95, this combo is a great value and a smart way to sample more than one dish - I’d come back for lunch to try other items. My friend ordered the fried catfish and shrimp basket with fries, and it was a solid choice. Both the fish and shrimp were fresh, crispy, and cooked just right without drying out. The fries had that classic boardwalk-s
Ask for David! Came here with our kids for an early dinner. We got a great booth and our server David was super helpful and attentive. He made wonderful menu recommendations and kept everything coming smoothly. Probably the best date night with kids we've ever had. Food was excellent, steak was cooked perfectly, everything was delicious. Got here early enough to take advantage of the happy hour and stayed for regular service. Will definitely be back soon!
Overall, the food was very mid, very disappointing. The only standout was the buttermilk smashed potatoes. Service was nice. Crab dip was tiny for $19... unbelievable how small it was. Steak frites tasted like salty boiled beef, no browned/grilled flavor, no pepper. The sauce was weird too. Combo basket catfish had watery flesh and the shrimp was mushy, not snappy at all. I would rather spend my money at yardhouse or cheesecake factory. Likely not coming back.
We were regulars at the Charley Prime Food before it become Charley Chesapeake Chophouse and we loved the original decor and their food, burgers and beer selection. With the change, they stripped the unique design keeping the ceiling that doesn’t match the new one at all, and their burger… the burger’s meat is the size for the slider but in the regular burger’s bun. The taste of the meat is different as well, looks as they changed the supplier or the change in the cooking method so the trick. The fries is different as well. The beer selection is somewhat mediocre. Though the salmon salad is ok and I liked the Muscat Spritz. I am not sure if we will be coming back… sorry!! The service was great, as always.
Stopped by for dinner with friends on a Friday night. We chose this restaurant because we could sit outside and listen to the Lakefront Live Summer Concert (Stringtown Band). Great food, great service and we really enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend that you make a reservation. For an appetizer we had the Burrata, Prosciutto and Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta. It was really tasty, and great to have on a summer night. This was followed by shrimp cocktail (the cocktail sauce will clear out your sinuses!) and side Caesar salads. For our main course, we had the rigatoni à la vodka, Chuck’s grilled chicken cob salad and coconut curry mussels. The sauce on the mussels was outstanding, and we ordered extra grilled bread to make sure it did not go to waste. For dessert we had the crème brûlée
