We recently visited Chai Pani at Union Market in DC to celebrate my wife’s birthday with our two children, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The ambiance is beautiful, vibrant, colorful, and energetic without feeling overwhelming. It felt like a great place for a casual family celebration. We ordered quite a few items and most of the food was excellent. The Vada Pav, Bhindi Fries, and Sabudhana Vada were standouts, really flavorful and well prepared. The Pani Puri was fun and tasty, and the Cheese Uthapam and Paneer Tikka were also very good. Everything felt fresh and nicely spiced. We also ordered chai, which was a great way to round out the meal. The only dish that did not quite land for us was the Dal Makhni. It had a very strong smoky flavor that overpowered the dish

Vibrant decor, friendly staff and delicious food. Nice options on their menu too. I have food allergies and our server was helpful with recommendations. *Sweet Potato Chaat- delicious! The pomegranate brings it all together well *Disco Bhel- was flavorful *Lamb- nothing stand out, but ok We'd definitely come back. There were several menu items we'd love to try next time, and the excellent customer service makes it even better.

A street food haven for anyone who hasn’t tried Indian street food yet. Before getting into the food, we tried a couple of mocktails. The raspberry soda and mango turmeric were both surprisingly very good, with well balanced flavors and no overpowering sweetness. The menu offers a large selection of chaat along with regular entrées and appetizers, and we mostly focused on the chaat. Starting with the food, the vada pav was traditional Mumbai style and really good. My personal favorite was the sweet potato chaat. It was creative, with a perfect balance of flavors and textures, and I absolutely loved it. We also ordered the mushroom uttapam, which was well made. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The sabudana vada was also good. We ended our meal with tea and ic

Chai Pani DC delivers a fantastic experience from start to finish. The ambiance is lively, colorful, and welcoming—perfect for enjoying street-food–inspired dishes in a fun setting. The chai served with Parle-G biscuits truly touched the heart and felt wonderfully nostalgic. It was comforting and authentic, and easily one of the highlights of the visit. As for the food, several dishes are absolute must-tries: the SPDP was perfectly balanced, the kale pakora chaat was crispy and flavorful, the sabudana vada tots were deliciously unique, and the matchstick okra fries were addictive and well-seasoned. Overall, Chai Pani DC is a great spot for bold flavors, comforting bites, and a vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at this lively and cheerful place. The menu is well designed and the service is good. We tried a bunch of things, and I enjoyed the appetizers more than the mains. The tots were my favorite, followed by the sweet potato chaat and the okra fries. We ordered the Dal and Paneer too which were decent but not the best I’ve had. My friends enjoyed the tandoori chicken and the naan too. I am grateful for plenty of labeled gluten free options. I’ll be back to try more stuff next time and give the desserts a shot!
