Central Rappahannock Regional Library Porter Branch

I love this library space. But why on earth is the library closed on Sunday? That is one of the best days to get kids to the library for us working families. We usually cannot make Saturdays due to other engagements but I would love to be able to introduce my toddler to the library.

Nice little library branch with a convenient location. Everything is on one floor. They have public computers, copy machines, meeting rooms, and rooms for small groups. There's a small store where you can buy snacks and used books, CDs, and DVDs. Selection is decent for its size, but you can easily request books from other branches (expect it in 3-4 days). My only complaint is the hours. I wish it was open later and for a few hours on Sunday. I often can't go because my only free time is when it's closed.

Some of the patrons are noisy and disrespectful. It seems to be a trend. People talk on their cellphones with the speaker on. This happens every time I have been there. When I asked the staff if library rules have changed. They offered me a study room, which I presume is a closet with a desk and light. Perhaps put signs up that certain behaviors are not allowed? You won’t even need to say anything to the offenders…just point to the sign.

Love this library. I’m a regular visitor and have always been able to access every title I’ve needed. Everything is well organized and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Kids love getting books and find it easy to request books online and check them out using the kiosks! Thank you to the entire staff for running our local libraries!
