Catskill Golf Resort

Needs major improvement to justify price. I get it, sometimes you just want to hit off some grass at a target, but 9 holes + cart for 38?? I expected a better deal for a Monday twilight tee time. Bar wasn’t open. Almost every green and tee box on the front looks like the attached photos. The grass seems fine but there are many patches of crusty dirt. Tee boxes are busted and sandy. This place has an interesting layout with a lot of potential. I especially liked the par 4 7th, which makes you think about where you should place your tee shot. I would not recommend playing here until some major improvements have been made.

Nice local course in Catskill NY (Greene County). A hilly, challenging and fun course. Fairways were in good shape, they are fairly tight with some open spaces. Tee boxes and greens aren't perfect, but they're playable. No GPS in carts so plan ahead for distance. Portable toilets and water along the paths. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. Bar and restaurant/lounge for your convenience. Staff was friendly.

Being from a place with great golf I was extremely impressed. The course was in great shape except for 1 green that got away from them. The course was challenging and required studying each hole. Alot of shots into targets you can't see requiring distance control. It was a mental workout for those who love the game.

⸻ I don’t even know where to begin. This “golf course” (and I’m using that term extremely loosely) is easily one of the worst places I have ever spent money in my life. I’ve had more enjoyable afternoons waiting at the DMV. First off, the price. For what they charge, I expected at minimum grass. Instead, the fairways look like someone tried to mow a swamp with safety scissors. The greens are basically lumpy carpets laid over concrete. Every putt is a surprise, and not the fun kind. One hole had a literal ditch in the middle of the green, like someone forgot to finish building it and just… walked away. Then there are the employees. I have been playing golf at Catskill for over 10 years now and the conditions this season have already improved drastically thanks to the new superintendent and head golf professional. The staff is friendly and the greens are better than ever. I think they will continue to improve as the season goes on. I look forward to coming back to the cat 🐈!
