Castleton Free Library

I want to move to Castleton for several reasons and this library is now one of them. I visit family here every summer, and after 24 years, finally dropped in the library today. For one thing, it is absolutely beautiful. I believe the building was constructed in 1928 and it has held up remarkably well. They take excellent care of this place! The top floor truly feels like a museum. I was also very impressed by the collection - for such a small library, they have a remarkable collection of both popular and unique titles! I was especially impressed by the adult History section. The entire downstairs is Juvenile/YA, but also includes a lovely section on Vermont history, which must be absolutely indispensable to researchers and locals. A true community center- nice public programs, bicycles, art projects - where else can you take out cookie cutters for baking during the holidays ?!?
