Casa Escondida Bed & Breakfast

Stayed here recently with a dear friend after helping with our Maestra’s book launch reception in Truchas. We were exhausted and we arrived late to discover they had upgraded our room…such a sweet gesture! The room was warm and cozy, the bed comfortable…and Everett's breakfast was delightful, especially the arroz con leche by the fireplace. ♥️ It was also lovely to meet the about-to-be-newlyweds, getting married there in the living room later that day! Casa Escondida is nestled in a quiet, very rural area of New Mexico. Loved the atmospheric, cozy architecture and the many decorative touches. Stayed in the upstairs Vista room which had a nice deck; were looking forward to reading and relaxing out there but weather was too breezy and chilly for that. Beds were comfortable, floors a bit creaky, and the steep stairs were not a problem. Would have liked water glasses and filtered water in room (the tap water has a bad taste), and happily the powdered chocolate is very good as there was no decaf coffee available The best part is the warm and helpful staff. Great spot to stop along the high road to Taos! Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was tasty too and staff were very friendly and polite. Only unappealing thing was the serratia marcescens staining the shower curtain and making it look unclean. Would recommend soaking the end of the shower curtain in diluted bleach to clean it.

Definitely a 10 Our time at Casa Escondido was wonderful. The room was comfortable and the setting is perfect. It’s such a treat to find a place like this that’s dog friendly. My city dwelling Doberman loved the trails and the sights and sounds of the country. I especially want to thank Everette for his outstanding breakfasts and Stephanie for keeping the room so clean and inviting and for her friendly, cheerful personality. You have a great staff. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at the Casa Escondida Bed and Breakfast. Prior to booking, I contacted the owner directly and received prompt and informative responses to my inquiries, which facilitated an immediate reservation. The location proved to be breathtakingly beautiful, offering numerous outdoor activities and a rich cultural heritage. The entire staff demonstrated exceptional friendliness and hospitality. I particularly appreciated the willingness to accommodate my dietary preferences by preparing a vegan breakfast. We have already made the decision to return for another visit.
