As a longtime eater of all things Tex-Mex, I was eagerly anticipating a place that only serves a select few items. This place does it right! You will not find ample seating here, and the atmosphere is as humble as you’ll find on the south side. It what it lacks in furnishings and decor, they more than make up in quality of food. We chose tacos of carnitas, carnitas con chile verde, and barbacoa. The carnitas were perfectly seasoned, clean, and so tender. Perfectly done. The barbacoa was clean, tasty, and darn near melted in my mouth! Simply amazing. The flour tortillas were tasty, if not a little thin. They held up. The chile on the table had heat, but the solid taste was not overpowered by the heat. The service of the family owners was fully attentive and perfectly timed. Wonderful s
This is truly a jam in the wall. This place is small but the food is home made. Tortillas home made. I had the menudo and one taco de carnitas and let me tell you what. The menudo is top 5 I've had and carnitas #1. The meat was tender not greasy very delicious. I really enjoyed the food. And the people were very attentive.
My dad & I stopped by Carnitas La Gloria and as soon as we walked in everyone was so friendly & sweet!! The food is made as you order! super fresh and taste amazing!! We will be definitely coming back!!
My wife and I walked into the restaurant at almost closing time. They only had two choices of Carnitas and some Rajas con queso left. We bought a half pound of carnitas and a half pound of carnitas en salsa roja. We got home and made some tacos with the order of carnitas. They were delicious and we were satisfied with the service and the food and the atmosphere. It’s a small mom and pop restaurant that features delicious food that we grew up with in the barrio. The service was very nice and the owners are very friendly. Go see them and support local small businesses.
This spot just opened less than a week ago. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, and it's the kind of family-run place you really want to support. The tortillas are hand made to order. The corn ones are on the thicker side and hold up well to the fillings, not cracking when folded. I got just some carnitas to go and they hit the spot; both my wife and I really enjoyed it. They also have other offerings like chicharron guisado, pork in salsa rojo, some good looking charro beans, and even some donuts (was pretty good actually). The habanero salsa is fire and delicious if you can handle the heat. I'd definitely return when I'm in the area and see how they're doing after they've been open for a bit.
