Carls subbs

This use to be one of the best sandwich spots in the city. Now, not so much. The meat they are using is processed meat. Not like pre-COVID, when the meat was not processed. The sandwich was very light and not a lot of meat either. I assume its because they are trying to keep the cost down. However, the taste was good and the staff is very friendly.

Look no further! Your sandwich place is here!!! This was hands down, the best experience I've ever had. Carl's subbs is a great, neighborhood sandwich shop. Good old fashioned customer service, no frills, great food. Prices are what one would expect for the area. This is no measly, sandwich chain! This is a fresh, delicious, generously made, subway sandwich!! They have a good selection of sodas, water and juice along with a potato chip selection. Remember to bring cash, they do not accept credit/debit cards. Street parking only Plenty of space for wheelchairs or assisted mobility to maneuver around inside, the doors are manual.

The subs are second to none. Fresh ingredients, overstuffed with delicious meats, fresh soft rolls and the price will make you smile !! i have been in the neighborhood for over 11 years and my first time ordering but definitely not my last. I’m telling all of my friends about Carl’s Subs on Rhode Island Ave NE DC Everyone walked away singing praises about the subs!!

I’ve been coming here for about 17 years. I was introduced to this family friendly establishment when I begin working in the 20018 zip-code. (Sorry to took to late to review but this review is from a visit on 9/13/2024) I always order the #8 (Cooked Ham & Turkey w/ provolone cheese) everything with extra hot peppers (which aren’t hot at all more pickled), and oil and vinegar. Pros: Opens at 9am Great subs Family friendly environment Cost efficient meal Cons: Cash only No pickles 😥 Establishment is behind a bus zone (parking sucks) Here’s a tip, go online and google the establishment, then search through the images to see the menu, then call your order in. This place can get busy at times.

Customer service was well. Sandwich not so much. The taste was there but, Meat and bread were entirely too thick. Not sure who made my sandwich today because when I came a couple weeks ago it tasted 10 times better. If you prefer your meat thinly sliced I wouldn’t recommend this sub shop.
