Whenever heading into Hoboken, I always try something new during my adventures. Not saying this is the best bakery, but definitely one of the more popular ones that many Cake Boss fans tend to visit. Located on 95 Washington Street which is a stone throw from the Train station. I would imagine they get busy at times, but at 845 am on a Tuesday there were no lines at all. Lots of variety to choose from and ended up taking a canoli or two home. All in all, it was a good visit. Pretty sure id do some more research into other bakeries for future visits, but no regrets stopping in and checking them out. Im sure the cakes were equally as tasty but stuck with the canolies this visit. If a hole cake is to much, they do have sealed slices of cake for sale which would be a tasty treat.
It’s classic Carlos vibe .. happy, busy and full of goodies. While I love the energy the pastry was Okayish. Still visit here cause he is the cake boss but I wish they change up the menu a bit. Coffee was like hot milk (too much half and half) and was $5 . Cannoli was really nice
We traveled way out of our way to visit this place and it was a bust. First, I had to go to another restaurant to take my child to the bathroom due to them not allowing customers to use it.. we order canoli, e'clair (about $7) and donuts and we were very disappointed. The cream inside the e'clair was frozen or suuuuper hard. The canoli's tasted like soggy bread at almost $7/ canoli thr donuts were just plain. For us 4 dishes was about $30, the place wasn't clean. Just unwelcome and not what I'd expect. There was no waiting as it was 4pm on a Saturday. Never been to NJ and my one stop 1hr out of our way was this bakery. Our excitement died when we open the door. :(
Baked goods were sooo good. The environment was eh. They were not as friendly as they are on television. The floors were dirty, don’t have a bathroom and was overpriced. Also, we went to order on the kiosk they have and were told it is not accurate on what they actually have for sale but they won’t update it.
I bought a cannoli, a cheesecake, a lobster tail, and sfogliatelle, and honestly, everything was just inedible. Each pastry tasted like pure sugar — so extremely sweet that it was impossible to eat. I don’t know if they keep adding more and more sugar or if they use some kind of syrup instead, but the result is simply awful. The cheesecake didn’t taste like cheesecake at all — it was more like slippery, greasy butter with no real cheese flavor. The cannoli shell tasted like stale bread, and the sfogliatelle were not fresh. The so-called cheese filling was hard and didn’t even taste like cheese. Trying these desserts is enough to cure anyone from eating sweets ever again. Absolutely not worth the hype.
