This restaurant is easy to find and offers parking in the back of the building. Meals can be eaten in the restaurant or ordered inside for takeout. The restaurant is clean and practically furnished with lots of advertising on the tables and menus. Table service today was a bit slow, but all of the employees were friendly. The hushpuppies and slaw were not great, but the fried catfish, fried shrimp, and caramel pie were just delicious. Campton serves quite a variety of selections, from sandwiches to daily specials, steaks, barbecue, and seafood. Pricing was fair. For diners who love novelties, the restaurant sells a "Straight Outta Campton" tee shirt.
Restaurant was busy on the Saturday night that we were there, but it was worth the wait!!! Good country comfort food in a no frills environment. Prices were great!
I’ve eaten here several times and the food has been fine, over priced but ok. My last time there several days ago made me question ever going again. The portion size was small , I ordered to go and the corn bread was unwrapped and didn’t even look like it had been cooked it was white and had been put in with the vegetables and was totally wet and falling apart. The vegetables were pretty much $4 each and to be honest pretty tasteless. I don’t know if there is a new cook or exactly what is going on but the standards certainly have slipped since the last time I was there.
Jan 2024 Update: This was our first visit since the update. The changes definitely make the restaurant feel more warm and comfortable. Table spacing has been updated to allow for an easier flow through the restaurant. The updated color pallet gives the space depth and the wall murals remind you of the restaurants roots and that it is a family establishment. On this visit I had my personal favorite country fried steak with both white and brown gravy, green beans, and field peas. Both gravies are house made and offer very different flavor profiles. The white gravy is not as thick as the old, but still has the flavor expected just a bit lighter and more buttery. The brown gravy is a punch of flavor that can overpower the steak where the white compliments it. I would recommend the brown gravy
Traveling to the Monroe area this was our first trip to Campton Restaurant. It was absolutely awesome! Food was delicious and generous portions. Fair prices. Great service. I had some of the best fried chicken I had ever eaten! We will definitely be back!
