Came here based on online reviews and left disappointed in the quality of food for the price (~$80 per person excluding tip). Almost all of the dishes had one component that failed on execution - perhaps a reflection of the timing for when we arrived (Friday evening). As a general note, each dish was salted very heavily, teetering on the line of being overly salted. Tuna Ceviche with tortilla chips - tuna was fresh and the ceviche showed quality ingredients, however the tortilla chips had no snap at all and were chewy. A previous review called these “limp and leathery” and I would agree! Glassy potato - the flavour of the aioli was good, the potatoes were however overly fried and crunchy. The table next to us ordered the same dish around 20 minutes later and we saw that their potatoes we

Overall a pretty good experience. The service was very friendly and my servers were able to provide good wine pairings and gave samples out unprompted. It did feel rushed however— they require you to order your entire meal in one go and they delivered my cheque when I had barely started my dessert. Service could be improved by presenting the wine bottle (they pour at the table) and by describing/explaining the dishes when they drop them off— small things that make a difference. The ceviche starter was very nice. The flank steak salad was intermediate. They steak was good but the rest of it didn’t quite click for me (citrus, radicchio, onion, puréed lentil— parts were good but parts didn’t quite hit for me). Very nice chocolate mouse for dessert. The atmosphere was nice. I sat on the heat

I found this place on Google Maps after dropping my wife off in San Francisco. I was hungry and wanted to try something new. Camino Alto is a smallish restaurant with a cool mellow vibe. They were busy, so I chose to dine solo at the bar. The menu was loaded with interesting options and I settled on the pork belly. I made a good choice. The food was delicious. The house coriander limeade was also quite tasty and to top it off, the pot du crème was amazing. The prices were reasonable and the staff is friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back the next time I am in San Francisco.

I found Camino Alto while visiting family in the area and looking for a nice restaurant with gf options. I was totally delighted to find out the entire menu was gf when we went for brunch on a sunday. Love the Mexican direction of the menu and that everything I tried had a creative touch and balanced flavor. I ordered a pork belly dish that came with poached eggs, polenta, and a green salsa for brunch. It was a satisfying but not overwhelming portion. Fun to eat. My sister ordered the masa waffles which I tasted and also enjoyed. We loved it so much we returned the same evening for dinner. It was the last day of restaurant week in SF so we ordered off the set menu; everything was genuinely enjoyable to eat because the quality of the ingredients is high and each dish is balanced and thoug

An absolutely phenomenal restaurant. I had the joy of photographing a sweet, intimate wedding reception here and the experience was unparalleled. It’s obvious that chef Josh and the restaurant staff care about their employees and what they do. The entire waitstaff was so friendly and easy to work with. My couple had the whole back patio to themselves, which was beautiful and cozy. Many vendors know how challenging events can be at smaller restaurants, but the Camino Alto team saved me a private seat at the bar and prepared a fresh plate during my break. The meal was one of my favorites I’ve ever had working an event! They truly went above and beyond for the vendors and the couple. The atmosphere is effortlessly elevated. From the handwritten custom menu, speciality drinks suited to the cou
