California Underground

Originally California Underground started out as a taco joint, and they serve delicious tacos, burritos, quesadillas, taco bowls and more. However, NOW, they started to serve breakfast and boy oh boy…. This is probably going to be my new breakfast spot in hull! Everything was delicious from the breakfast burrito, to the corn beef hash, and they even serve shakshouka! I haven’t found a place that serves shakshouka in town and as someone who loves Mediterranean food this was certainly a welcoming addition! Everything seemed very fresh and homemade, and the prices were very fair! Don’t pass up on their new breakfast menu, and certainly don’t pass up on the lunch and dinner that they have been serving up for years now!

Everything was clean; lots of people; quick service; good food! We've visited several times, both just my wife & I, and in larger groups. Every time, the food is very satisfying, and the spice guide on the menu has matched our tastes perfectly. Take out for 4 last night (7/12/24) was perfect - combo of taco, taco bowl & burrito were right on the money for flavor, heat, and quality! 11/21/25 We had a wonderful experience last night as we met with old friends for dinner. It was very quiet/pretty empty for a Friday night. Our server, Blue, was thoroughly entertaining and handled every question quickly & professionally. Even when we were "off menu" she said "we'll figure something out" to such an extent that I commented she must be good at improv, where the mantra is always "Yes, and" The

It was a Monday night there was nobody in there except one other person at the bar. The kitchen was still open and there was a very nice bartender. She was very nice and we chit-chatted it a little, I got a couple of delicious tacos in a really delicious pomegranate margarita I'm happy I went there and I will stop in again!

This was a nice bar right across the street from the beach. It had a cool Mexican/surf vibe to it. The place was small but it didn’t fee cramped with the number of tables. Only had a couple of drinks there but it was good. Would go back to try the food.

Wish we would’ve stopped here sooner. Delicious. Friendly. Cool, laid back vibe. Clean building, great location with views of the ocean. Lots of choices and everything was very fresh. Can’t wait to go back. Oh - and drinks to go. Couldn’t ask for anything more!
