California Taco

I've been coming here every Tuesday evening with my family for almost 20 years. We park our car a half mile away and make the ritualistic hike into the boggy mosquito infested marshy stream that is Elkick Run. The only time we've ever missed a single weekly session was once when I was briefly a POW in Afgan. I've never had any complaints. Until this last Tuesday. When we ordered our platter of 55 tacos, and what we were served could hardly be seen to be believed. These tacos are so small. I weep for the past. I have attached a picture of the tacos next to my cat in the dining area for scale. Look at how small these tacos are. The tacos are right next to my cat. You can't even see them! 🥺🥺🥺

I’ve been planning my pilgrimage to this secluded California Taco location for years. After packing three liters of water, a compass, and enough snacks to survive an S-curve traffic accident during rush hour, I finally bushwhacked my way through the wilderness to this remote forest outpost. To my surprise, there was no truck, no staff, and critically, no tacos. Just me, a quiet stream, and a sign warning me about “mutant zombies.” But that’s when it hit me: the taco was within me the whole time. I savored every imaginary bite of my metaphorical carne asada taco while standing alone in the woods, watching the sun set through the branches. A truly spiritual experience, just as California Taco intended.

food was amazing and very scenic! took a little struggle to get there since d it’s in the middle of the forest but otherwise me and my buddies were very satisfied and would most definitely come back again!
