Café Carmela

My first time visiting this restaurant and I’m so happy that we came here for lunch. Soon as we walked in we were greeted by Rae, our server, with a very pleasant manner. We ordered a Caesar salad, a cheesesteak and a pizza with half mushrooms. Everything was fresh and so very good. The cheesesteak was exceptional. It was served on a soft roll, very generous amount of steak and cheese. The Caesar salad was so light and refreshing and the pizza was perfect. The place is clean and I loved the pictures. Being from South Philly, where there are plenty of Italian restaurants, I was so glad my husband decided on Cafe Carmela. Ann Marie took the time to explain the restaurant and her actually being from the Italian Market area. I so look forward to a return visit.

This place is an easy 5/5. First of all, its super cute inside without trying to hard to be fancy. We came in casual clothes and did not feel out of place, and would have felt just as comfortable dressed up for a date. Loved the decor and atmosphere! Ice water served in a carafe is an upscale touch. The service was absolutely amazing. Our server Mary Pat is the pinnacle of service. Bright, warm, knowledgeable, quick, and professional. She was delightful! The food was perfect. Id heard the cheesteaks here were top contenders for best in town and that was no exaggeration. Not only did they give me one of the best cheesesteaks that I've had during my time in Philly (and I've had 10 other places), but the service was also exceptional (special thanks to the red head waitress). Not to skip past the crab Mac N cheese which was also top notch. The cheese pull on the Magg pizza was one that all places should strive to achieve. The truffle fries with the cheese sauce was very tasty as well. All in all, this place serves delicious food at very fair prices. I can easily recommend them

Ordered takeout on a Thurs mid-afternoon. Inside was crowded with diners, which was a good sign. Cheeseteaks were great, full of meat and flavorful. The Italiano sandwich tasted good also, but tough to eat since the broccoli rabe wasn't really cut and a full piece of rabe was pulled at every bite.

First time here, ordered to go... Arancini as an appetizer and an Italiano sub. They were excellent!!! Looking forward to going back. Mary took my order and was awesome. She said that I will have to come back and eat a Cheesesteak in the dining room, I will try that next time.
