Pretty nice restaurant, expansive menu, hella seating, open early ~ the #22 Breakfast Bagel with Bacon egg and cheese with avocado was solid. With a coffee for $13.50
I’ve gone here often the last time I went was new years and the food was amazing. But this time around food did not taste the same. Played came out room temperature, and the food was flavorless. The eggs needed salt, the food items taste very plain. When it comes to Guatemalan breakfast I love eating “desayuno típico” its the same in every place and the taste of the breakfast never changes it it always good. At cafe guatmalteco their traditional breakfast is called “Chapin” it was flavorless, and the scrambled eggs had too many onions to even enjoy. Also the plantains they gave me were not cooked through. Some of them were still raw in the center…. The only redeeming quality was their coffee. I had a hot horchata late. For that reason I give it 2 stars. I’m sad at the downgrade of quality
Great Enchilada concept. This was a surprise meal presentation which was more of a tostada. The Enchilada was a hard shell tostada on top of a bed of lettuce, marinated beef with beets, picked onion.
I’m from Guatemala and the food here is very authentic! Everything was so fresh and delicious. I love how the restaurant is decorated. They have chocofrutas and fresh juices too! They have something for everyone to choose and accommodate dietary needs!
Their food quality has gone down. The burger and fries where lukewarm when they served it to us and the burger tasted mediocre. The huevos con chorizo tasted bland because nothing was seasoned well; not even with a little bit of salt. The chicken tamal was the worst of all. It was served cool not nice and hot as should be and the masa was borderline gooey with a strange flavor. The service was weird because the plates were served one by one with big gaps in between and the last two plates served, which were the burger and tamal, were lukewarm. I’m Guatemalan and I know authentic flavor and authentic friendly warmth from Guatemala and its people, and this place lacks both. I’m sad to say that I will never go back to waste my money in such a place like Cafe Guatemalteco 🥺
