Cafe Farina Michigan City

Nice Italian restaurant with good food, good service and nice ambiance. We enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs, and Orcchiette Sausage pasta dish with gluten free pene. Loved that they had GF option. We had to order bread, wish it was complimentary, but it was worth it. Warm, soft and melted in your mouth. The caprese salad was delicious, once it finally came out. The tiramisu was delicious…soft and light. The vanilla “gelato” was disappointing. Tasted like regular ice cream and I had to return it. I couldn’t get past the freezer burn clumps and icy texture. Not sure how old it was. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the ice cream, and waiter forgetting to order the salad. Great spot though and willing to come back!

Cozy horse racing themed space with tall ceilings and bricked walls. Friendly waitstaff dressed sharply in black & white welcome you warmly. The food is beautifully presented on elegant white china. Did I mention it’s delicious? Made from scratch pastas, salads, breads, and seafood. Thank you for making my birthday special.

Wonderful dining experience. The wait staff was friendly and informative. We had the seasonal peppers as an appetizer. All the food was amazing. We ordered the recommended ala carte meatball and bread and was not disappointed. The bread took some time but was well worth the wait. I had the Brisket Tortellini with vodka sauce. The wife had the Chicken alla Joe. The vodka sauce was rich and decadently creamy. If you're in the area there are multiple excellent Italian diners on this street (Franklin) you can't go wrong.

Cafe Farina has excellent vibes— coming from Chicago I’m always looking for a tasty bite and an added bonus is aesthetics. The aesthetic of this place is super cute. The food is good. I think it could be better. We had a meatball appetizer and the meatballs were delicious, but they were not very hot and the ricotta topping was very small and not enough to go around. We ordered the pork chop calabrese - great review there other than the potatoes being a bit underdone. Two of us had the chicken alla limone. WOW. This dish is so tasty. The sauce is truly incredible, however, it’s $23 for two chicken breasts in sauce. I feel like for this price they should add potato wedges similar to chicken Vesuvio that soak in the sauce or a small addition of angel hair. Both of those are affordable options

It’s not every day that you get to enjoy a meal and have it be an experience too. As a native from STL MO and having some of the best Italian food around the corner on the hill, I can still say that Cafe Farina’s spaghetti sauce is the best I’ve ever had. And the meatballs were so good that melted in your mouth. Best meal I had in Michigan city. The atmosphere was very nice as well. I’d highly recommend this to anyone passing through.
