Cactus Jack's Southwest Grill

I'd popped my head in here one day while walking down the street and asked if they were dog friendly, they'd had such a great response into welcoming him and insisted we came back later for dinner with him. We done so and, of course, sat on the deck. Spacious and right off the main stretch, fun spot to people watch and and just take in the atmosphere of VA Beach. Waitress was very attentive. I wish I'd remembered her name because she really was great, kept our dogs bowl full of water, and even brought him treats. She was quick to take our orders and ensured that drinks were always kept full, which meant a ton on a hot evening. Great shade despite being outside. It was comfortable. Stopped by on Tuesday night and went to the bar as we usually do to get a good view of the tvs and we noticed that the same bartender was there that had been really awesome the last few times we had been over the years. I think his name is Tony but I know for sure he said he does catering. Ordered drinks and some apps and everything came out hot and fresh. I ordered the nachos and wings and the half portion of nachos is huge so be mindful if you get them but they were great. My wife had the shrimp and chips and guacamole that she really liked. The star of the show was the drinks, my wife ordered the bucket special and a lemondrop that she loved. I had a crown and ginger which is simple yet effective! Service was great; waitress was nice and understanding, chips and guacamole were good. However, once the entrees came, they were very disappointing. I got the Jack’s Burger, but its bun was soggy upon arrival, and the burger fell apart as a result. My friend got chicken tortilla soup, which was barely warm Overall, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Ok first off. There were only four of us but they auto added a 20 percent gratuity onto our bill. The brisket was moist but had no flavor to it. There is no desert menu. Our server was chatting with the crew and it was challenging to get her attention. The food was just okay.

Great restaurant located on the strip. Customer service was fantastic! The food was pretty good. My husband ordered their trio entrée which came with 3 meats and 2 sides. He absolutely loved it!!! As did I, I sampled a bite of each of his smoked meats. My only complaint is that we felt the portions could have been more plentiful for the price of this particular platter. I ordered their trio taco entrée, while it wasn't bad, I definitely wished I chose another entrée (something along the lines of what my husband ordered) their smoked meats were absolutely delicious. Our girls kept it simple and ordered their chicken nuggets and fries as well as their nachos and trio dips. They had no complaints about their nuggets & fries.
