My wife and I were in town visiting relatives and we decided to try this place out. Huge portions compared to what we're used to in our state. We lived in Japan for a while and we love trying local cuisine so this checked all the adventure boxes for us. While there's minimal seating at the stand, we dined at the shop in the corner and got to enjoy watching the goonies before diving into some classic video games. A millennial couldn't ask for a better day. This place lived up to the hype and we would be happy to return next time we're in the area!
Endless love for Busu! Sending my gratitude to the owner, Kenzo. He always takes the time to write a sweet message on my to-go orders, and asks how my day is going. I much appreciate that I can shoot him a text to place an order too! The menu changes day by day depending on what's seasonallly fresh. Very generous portions when it comes to dishes like the yakisoba and gyudon. Makes delicious leftovers for the next day. Easily the best Japanese food in Astoria - this person is part of what makes the town special.
Busu is in a league of its own. Passionate and knowledgable with a genuine love for community and local food that shines through everything he makes and every interaction with patrons. We love coming here. My favorites are the pickle plate, kimchi, and pork belly yakisoba but everything is phenomenal. We are newer to the area and we especially loved getting to try so many locally foraged mushrooms for the first time through Busu dishes this fall. Thank you Chef! 🫶
Incredible meal! Had the kimchi pork belly stew and yakisoba. Super fresh ingredients. No notes. Went back the next day and again, incredible meal!!!!
Honestly, the best food we had in Astoria! We missed our opportunity last time we visited so it was on our must do list. We just knew it was gonna be bomb. This place is so legit and the owner is so friendly and down to earth. He had two items on the menu: A curry miso soup And yakisoba with pork belly, tofu, or both. (We of course got both ) The miso was so unique in flavor with an abundance of gorgeous mushrooms Perfect comfort food on a rainy day. And I’m still Dreaming about the yakisoba! This is how you do noodles. The flavor was against super unique. A gorgeous pile of noodles and The pork belly was cooked to perfection. Nice and thick and meaty and complimented with fat. We had a lot left over and ate at the next day and it was just as good cold, tbh. ;) We had an “upscale” dinner E
