Burritos El Chavo!

Love these burritos! I've been going here for decades. They consistently deliver the best burritos. I get the chicken burrito with rice, beans and cheese. Their chicken is deliciously stewed with onions and tomatoes - it might be a tinga?? I usually don't like beans, but these are delicious pinto beans that aren't a smooth mush but have a lot of body. The cheese is so good - perfectly melty and silky. Their salsa is an nice, medium hot, roasted tomato without an overbearing smokiness. I've never had another chicken burrito that was on this level. Yum Yum! EDIT TO ADD: Last night, I went to Dunsmoor, a foodie favorite in Glassell Park, and had their famous pork and green chile stew with tortillas and was struck by how similar this dish was to my beloved chicken burrito. So good!

At first the price for a burrito seems steep, but once you take a bite you understand. It's as if the meat is tenderized first or marinated for a bit . The salsa is spicy and the service is gr8 ! Will be coming back!

Almost $17 for a flimsy oily burrito. They only had one red salsa and it was watery and taste like straight tomato. Not worth it for the price the burrito is also dripping with oil and watery beans.

These are the burritos of dreams - I remain convinced there is no finer bean and cheese known to humankind. Every meal I have had the pleasure of eating here has been bursting with flavor and clearly made with love. Delicious.

Wonderful and friendly service in this quaint eatery. We came for a couple of machaca burritos and horchatas and left with full bellies and smiles on our faces.
