Buena Vista Public Library

Such a sweet and friendly place. We visited multiple times during our stay. There’s lots of books, games and toys to play with. Our favorite was Wednesday afternoons where kids can read to pups. My kids love it!

The library staff has really worked hard this past year to make the temporary space as accomodating and resource rich as possible. I appreciate their hard work and services they provide our community. Libby and online resources provided through my library card are great too.

I am paraplegic, and have been living here for 5 years. I called and asked if I could rent one of their soundproof rooms, I called it, the lady on the phone said it didn't exist. She was splitting hairs with me, as I have rented one of these rooms before; although they are not fully soundproof, it's the best thing you are going to get as far as privacy and the muffling of ambient noise. I told her that not only did it exist, but I have rented one several times. I asked her why she was lying to me, she got triggered and said I was being rude. I asked her why she was saying it was rude to tell somebody that they just lied and she hung up on me. This is why the presidential election was so important this year. This is my absolute favorite library, and I've lived in several big cities with excellent libraries. There are often well-behaved dogs in the BV library and while it isn't loud by any means, the librarians don't enforce absolute silence which makes it feel very welcoming. I often take advantage of interlibrary loans as I have less common interests, and the overall collection is quite good for the size of the library.
