Braised Kitchens Bloomfield NJ

First off, I want to say that I never planned on stopping in. I was in the area because I was touring and Dean greeted me with a smile and a wave from the window. When I came back around and let him know I was interested in the menu options, he started tell me about his discounts and promotions. Unfortunately most of those things were meet, and I'm vegetarian so I asked if he had any vegetarian options and that I was hoping for patty and plantain. He told me he did have callaloo+ kale and an ackee patty. He made them himself, and even gave me a complimentary drink. I chose sorrel, one of my favorite drinks growing up. He packed them neatly and gave me some extra bag so I could carry it, and when I finally got to the house I was able to take a bite of each patty. At least I planned it to

We went her on a whim and loved it. The Vegan Mac was a pleasant surprise (we’re not even vegan but saw good reviews), the sauce had just enough kick, the jerk chicken was perfectly done, and the portions were generous. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for good food and to support some local business

The food at this place is absolutely scrumptious! You can actually taste the coconut flavor in the beans and rice. The sauces are savory without being too spicy. The meat gets cooked to perfection, tender, flavorful and juicy. Cute and colorful decorations and very nice, friendly service by the guys working the store. I mean, PLEASE do yourself a favor and run, don't walk to get lunch, dinner or your next tasty snack. On the negative side there is no dedicated parking but I have usually found something on the street within a few minutes or by the train station. And the dining area is tiny so if you have a big party, call ahead to reserve first! Bloomfield has a new hidden gem and I promise you won't be disappointed if you give them a try.

I stopped by to grab lunch and I didn’t enjoy my food at all. The food lacked that authentic Caribbean taste. You can look at the oxtails and tell they weren’t good just based off the color. Authentic caribbean oxtails are significantly darker. Also, the price is not worth the little amount of oxtails they give you. Instead of giving you more meat like you’re paying for they rather overcompensate and give you a bunch of hard Mac and Cheese. The Mac and cheese was so difficult to pick up with a fork. & It tastes stale, almost as if it had been sitting there for days. The plantains and cabbage also had a funny taste. Overall don’t believe the social media hype and the inflated google reviews.

During my visit, I experience good customer service; employees are helpful and kind. The Vegan Mac and Cheese is filling. The flavors and textures of the ingredients mesh very well. If from within a shut container (as in the picture with this review, for example), one may slowly sieve grease out with the container shut, leaning sideways. I think an addition of a piece of bread will complement the meal well. The meal is so large, one may reserve portions of the meal for later. The meal travels well and is just as tasty overnight with a reheating. The eatery has indoor seating. Chill Vibes. The eatery accepts different forms of payment.
