Boyd's Crawfish House & Grill

My husband and I are in town for softball (Go Hawks!) and wanted to experience authentic Louisiana crawfish, so we stopped into Boyd’s—and we are SO glad we did! We’re visiting from Massachusetts and decided to go all in, each ordering the trio with crawfish, shrimp, and crab. It was hands down one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had. Absolutely incredible! As if the food wasn’t amazing enough, the hospitality blew us away. When our waitress came over with our ticket, she told us that the gentleman sitting next to us had paid for our entire meal. We were completely shocked! We saw him earlier at the same softball game and learned that his brother is the owner of Boyd’s. We didn’t get the chance to properly thank him, so I hope he sees this: thank you, sir. The sign is misleading… no crawfish and nothing grilled. Crabmeat salad served in a clear plastic container, with the dressing in a packet, as if picked up from a convenience store. We could not eat the crab, it smelled so old. No “welcome” from anyone, not a word when food was served, rather was handed to us like from a cafeteria line…and not a “thank you” or come again. There was a menu on the table offering boiled shrimp and crawfish, but we were told to not order from that menu, with no explanation. This was just a travelers lunch for us, but such a terrible disappointment, and so overpriced.

After being beaten up by I-10 for a couple of hours, we decided to stop in. The bar was completely full at 4pm on a Tuesday, and the parking lot was already almost full. I can only imagine what it's like on a weekend. My husband was craving shrimp and crab, but they were unfortunately out of crab :( He enjoyed his shrimp and sausage, though. I got the Darrell's Special Poboy, and it was pretty good! Very very messy, but good. The turtle cheesecake was yummy, as well.

Kamryn at the Gator Chateau recommended Darrell’s (she even showed us the foil wrapped sandwich of theirs that she had for her lunch later) when we stopped to hold alligators. Darrell’s was so good. The food was amazing, especially the bread, and the service was good and fast. Wish there was one back home.

Just stopped in on the way from Houston to Nawlins and boy, was it good! The waitress was friendly, polite and super efficient. The bread for the sandwich was perfect, a little crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and the Darrell special with jalapeño mayo was great. Sweet tea was also fantastic.
