After months of trying to get a reservation, we finally made it to Bong, and it was more than worth the wait. From the first bite to the last, every dish was bold, thoughtful, and packed with incredible Cambodian flavors. Mama Kim’s lobster was rich, aromatic, and beautifully cooked, but the pork chop with tomatillos easily got my vote — juicy, deeply flavorful, and perfectly balanced with bright acidity. The crabbage, loaded with sweet, tender crab, was savory, rich, and completely addictive. We also loved the plea satch ko, which brought bright, punchy flavors, and the machu clams, which were briny, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The pomelo salad was the perfect finish — light, refreshing, and vibrant after such a satisfying meal. The atmosphere is lively and intimate, with a fun, hi
The staff at Bong truly feel like a family. They seemed so happy to be around each other and to share amazing food and culture with their customers. Every bite was out-of-this-world flavorful. The Plea Satch Ko was our first bite of the night, and it packed a punch! We were literally left speechless by how good it tasted. The Na Taing had a great umami flavor that paired beautifully with rice crackers and fresh veggies. The Crabbage was a pleasantly unexpected mix of crab and cabbage. It was very pepper-forward and had a nice depth of flavor. The Fried Fish was a staple done right. It’s hard to find places in the city that make perfectly seasoned fried fish. It was so good we forgot to take a picture before devouring it. Great job all around — I can’t wait to come back!
I was elated when I was finally able to make a reservation here!! I was a longtime fan of Kreung, so I’m happy that they have a permanent location to share their family recipes and take on classic Khmer dishes. First, you have to start with the Cambo Corn. There’s a reason why it’s so popular—the flavors are out of this world. It’s the type of dish you’ll want to recreate at home, it’s that good. If there was the ability to order an extra side of the sauce, I would have drizzled it on everything. It’s served to you cut in three pieces for $14. The Crispy Whole Fish is another must try! It is extremely rare to find Dorade fish in NYC. They are one of four restaurants in Brooklyn that serve this (that I know of). The fish is scored and fried in rice powder (gluten free!) and is accompanied
Each dish was so unique and flavorful, truly made a very rich ensemble. For the two of us, we ordered 3 medium and 1 small plates (my personal favorite was the Krabbage) — felt just enough for us, though I think you could probably add one more small or one more medium if you’re really hungry. Just a heads up that the space is on the smaller side, and I think we may have had on an odd day in terms of where we were seated, but it can get loud easily.
Went for a friend’s birthday and got extremely lucky with a last min res. at 9PM which honestly feels late but actually worked in our favor for ordering more. We were a party of 4 and ordered 5 dishes (3 of them were mediums) and had leftovers. It’s a very small spot with no waiting area so if you go it’s best to just come on time or camp out at a nearby bar to wait out the seating time. Also the bathroom door doesn’t really lock / is super finicky so make sure to knock and hold the door back. Don’t miss the pork dip or pork chops. Wish we had tried the steak too! Their meat dishes were all 10/10 Seafood dishes that were must haves: cabbage, scallop (refreshing and great texture to help beat the heat) and the crispy shrimp with heads on. Can skip: Lobster (good portion and well cooked,
