A tiny little place right along the main street. It does have a convenient drive up window on the street side. In business since 1947 it is built quite a following. On my visit there is probably three or four cars in line all the time +6-8 people at the window. The service was good. The milkshake was plenty thick enough and the french fries weren’t cooked as much as I like them, but they were still tasty. This is a kind of businesses built on the backbone of America.
Have you ever been to a Tasty Freeze in the Midwest? It's JUST like that. I'm quite shocked that every condiment was an extra 75cents extra. Had the Sloppy Joe, mushroom bites, mozzarella sticks, sour cream & chive fries and a pizza burger. Honestly, the Sloppy Joe and the mushroom bites were worth it. But the mozzarella sticks(3) weren't even melty, like it was just a solid stick with hot breading. The pizza burger wasn't something to write home about either. Another thing, why is a large pop $2 but a large soda is $3.50? Southern tourist up-charge? 🤷♀️
We wanted to try the famous Butte Pasty brought to the area while we were in town! We were not disappointed! The Pasty was brought to the area by Cornish mine workers. Outside seating or take away only but we also saw they deliver! The Root beer Float was delicious too!
A local burger and shake place. I ordered the steak burger, tater “gems”, and chocolate shake. Service was friendly and informed me that the burger takes extra time. I appreciated the information from the employees. The food arrived in a timely fashion. The tater gems were not fresh, unfortunately many of them had become petrified gems. The burger was large and loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cheese. There was an additional sauce sort of like a thousand island dressing. Overall the burger was good! It was a bit on the dry side, but there was plenty of sauce to help. The flavor was good, but on the chewy side. The chocolate shake was smooth and sweet! Not a powerful chocolate flavor, more subtle. Overall I am glad I supported local, but the food needs a bit of an overhaul.
Very popular dive through for food and ice cream. The chocolate was not super rich but more creamy. The strawberry shortcake Sunday was also light and delicious. It had a sponge cake on the bottom, nice soft vanilla and the strawberries on top simply tasted freshly frozen/thawed and not that super sugary thick syrup fruit. So it was great! Prices were very reasonable.
