Bodega 524 Delicatessen & Bar

Bella’s often has a line at the door, Bodega 524 is a great alternative especially if you want a sandwich. Their claim of massive sandwich’s is justified. You could easily split a single order. Skip the ice tea it’s from one of those bar wands, same goes for the lemonade. Service is good, staff is friendly. Sit on the back deck and watch the river.

I can’t fit the Sammy in my mouth.. but I’m trying! They don’t skimp on the meat.. but every bite is phenomenal. I ordered the muffuletta and was blown away by the freshness but also the flavor explosion. Also got a Broadway Blues and it was like I was on a lovely beach. Most people are in here grabbing a drink but the Sammie’s are where it’s at. Come check out the newest addition to Clayton.

I seem to be the outlier here... Everyone raves about this place. Well I'm from Brooklyn and I never had a pastrami sandwich as cold and tasteless as the one I ordered there. Lot of meat but I could have went to the grocery store and bought a pound pastrami. I'm just used to real pastrami cooked locally, hot and fat and greasy and tasty. This was kind of bologna type pastrami. My wife ordered a Reuben and basically the same response... It wasn't hot at all, a Reuben that's not hot and buttery and juicy, loaded with sauerkraut and cheesy, to me. That's not a real Reuben type but and again, what do I know. The people there were nice but it would be hard for me to recommend to go there. Sorry because we need as many restaurants in Clayton as possible

The "firecracker" was lovely. You can definitely taste the pineapple!! The bar is nice inside and who doesn't love a sandwich, drinks, and friendly staff!

On vacation in June, my husband and I visited Bodega 524 and were so impressed with the sandwiches! He had the Muffaletta and I ordered the Rat Pack (created my own) which was sour dough, roast beef, pastrami, provolone, spinach, olive salad and Italian spice blend. These sandwiches were delicious and so huge we could eat only half. Also, we tried the Italian sushi which was flavorful. The staff are just so friendly and we loved the atmosphere! Prices are very reasonable for the amount that you get. We will be back!
