Customer Reviews
We visited with our good friends to show our support for the neighborhood after ICE invaded. We lived in Minneapolis years ago and frequented this restaurant often. The service by Janita was outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed her and she did a great job for us. The food was excellent, the best German food any where in MN. The atmosphere is amazing, tons of history and stories, past and present. Thanks for the memories ♥️
We went there again to celebrate our 27 year anniversary of dating. Some things have changed but the good German food has not. My favorite by far is the pretzel with spicy cheese. They have a free parking lot just a half a block away.
Dbl birthday dinner - Monday night. The rest was nicely sparse of customers so visiting was pleasant. It was cold inside though as a result. The beer flight was excellent. The house specialty was very good . Its missing spaetzle ($8 for a small bowl ) might have easily been part of the meal for $35. The sausage sample plate was enjoyed by another in our party. The tan sausage was more bland than the dark polish one. The smoked pork chop (rippchen )- excellent. The Black Forest cherry cake our bday couple ordered, had a sour taste (maybe tart cherry in the cream?) They didn’t finish it. Service was good with a quiet night. Atmosphere nice. Parking on south side. Reasonably priced for serving size . Fun that they gave the bday couple , small glasses as a gift. Would recommend.
I was excited to have Hungarian goulash with sperzel (a dish I loved when I first had it in Austria). The flavors were good, but both the meat and spetzl were dry. The lighting in this place is also pretty sterile - the decor makes it feel like it should be cozy, but the bright white overhead lights make it feel awkward (these really should be a warm white, not a cold white). I know this sounds nitpicky, but it really makes a difference in the ambience!
Heard about this place and decided to give ot a try. My wife and I were stationed in Germany a while ago and we were looking for some authentic German food in the area. The Schweinhaxen (Pork Shank) was cooked perfectly. Our server was excellent and the food was delicious. It was a nice day so we sat out on the patio.
