Billy's Sandwiches Avondale

If I could make everyone in Atlanta try one restaurant, it would be this one. My first impression was immediately of the owner, who met me at the window as I walked up and told me the Fairfield is great today (he was right!). He's a kind guy who loves his craft. He's got old school music playing and pictures of his family all over the place. The sandwiches each represent specific times in his life and he shares those memories with his food. So how is the food? Spectacular. I got the Fairfield, a pork loin sandwich with spinach served on a seeded roll flown in from New Jersey. I was able to get the sandwich with jus and a long hot pepper, served with chips and a sour cream french onion dip. I went with a friend of mine, and it was an incredible experience. The owner is literally the guy making your sandwiches. The care and love that he puts into his food is evident in every bite. Genuinely one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Billy's Avondale is the epitome of what a locally owned restaurant should be. This place deserves more than five stars, and if you're ever in the Avondale/Decatur area, you should absolutely try this place. Heck, if you live in Atlanta, you should come and try this place.

The Fairfield was phenomenal. The chips were good and something different. Billy had a great dipping sauce that was like a sour cream onion dip. The owner really cares and can tell you the restaurant's story. I wish they took cash -- card only. The patio is great on a hot day but handicap accessibility is unclear.

Extremely well crafted sandwiches from local ingredients and a sub-master from NJ and believe me, up north they understand “deli”. Minimal choices on the menu drives quality and consistency which is an extremely smart choice (and I’m a procurement manager for a food service GPO and have worked in the food and hospitality industry for decades). If they add anything, I’d suggest a daily special, maybe even just on the weekends so the regular visitors have one additional option. The owner/operator is also very charming and kind! The pic (the Fairfield) may not look like much but the bread is fantastic, the pork is moist and well seasoned and there is the perfect amount of wonderful cheese to round it all out. The dip sauce was also wonderful. Try it!

This laid back, no frills place is serving some of the best sandwiches in Georgia. The sandwiches are simple and delicious. I had the Dartmouth and almost kicking myself i didn’t order two. The portions are great and the ingredients make for the perfect bite every single time. This was my first time here but it will definitely not be my last. So glad I stopped by!!
