Berthoud Community Library District

This library is such a gift to our community. The staff is kind and patient, and Thora is especially wonderful, always helpful, welcoming, and going above and beyond for patrons and frantic parents searching for the next book in a series or making recommendations. Great programs for all ages and interests, and interlibrary loans are fast and easy! Truly a gem.

I love all public libraries, and this is one of the finest. Their kids story times and the great selection and the friendly and knowledgeable librarians. An added bonus… Thank you all for the coffee!

A magical, lovely little library. The team is always friendly and helpful. They let you browse in peace and are quick to offer help whenever you need it. While not a large library, you can get pretty much anything you'd want on loan from another library in the area if you have the time to wait. Their children's area is the perfect size, with different dolls, a play kitchen, a computer area, puzzles and other activities. It's a nice sized play area for parents to be able to sit along with children or to browse in the book section without fearing the children are too far away. They have tons of events for adults and kids alike. Their children's story time hours are wonderful for new moms who need to keep little ones entertained for a bit. What a great little library. Staff let you be unless you need help or assistance finding a book or setting up your account. Decent variety of books but also can get pretty much anything you want from other libraries in the area. They have very workable hours open late on certain days. The library is always clean and well organized. They don't charge late fees which is absolutely awesome for many of us with super busy lives. They also have a plethora of audio books available online for free. Utilizing the library has saved me so much money on books and audiobooks and really reconnected me with the community. This place is awful. Most of the staff has been incredibly mean and unhelpful. I come here to write my PhD dissertation and get treated like I am a criminal, cause I don't have kids. I have spoken to supervisors in the past about how unprofessional their desk people are. I get questioned for why I would want to do my work in the library and am normally spoken to like I am a teenager they need to keep their eye on. For perspective, I am in my 40s. To add to all that, places for adults to sit are so limited and arranged so badly that you cannot sit without basically sitting next to another person. They should probably rename it the "Berthoud Children's Library" and then avoid confusion and upset. Pretty sad, cause it means there are no free, in-door places in Berthoud for an adult to come an
