Berkeley County Library - Moncks Corner

Need new employees. Visited one time on 1/27/26 ; witnessed a gentleman workers being rude to a customer and her daughter. Then for the next hour I was there- all the workers did was run around gossiping about the young lady and her child , this was the loudest library I’ve ever been to. The workers had no morals. No common sense to mask it until lunch or until closing time or a break. Just running around talking about the young lady and what she posted on social media.

I have never met such awful librarians. I used to come here frequently a few years ago because they have a wonderful selection; however, I recently returned to find that they are rude beyond belief. After that one horrible experience, I was hesitant to return, but I thought they could’ve just been having a bad day. Oh boy, was I wrong. I returned my book, and one of the librarians was rather insistent that I pay for a children’s book that was damaged when I checked it out. There is no way my kiddo could’ve messed it up because he didn’t even touch it. I read it to him, and I would never have coloured on a book like that. In addition, when picking up my summer reading prize, she acted like it was a huge inconvenience to grab the basket containing the prizes behind her. In comparison to the

I'm a little disappointed in what is my local library.. I called to ask about donating a small box of books, mostly hard cover and mostly suspense/thriller genre...and was told to bring them in and they would take them. However, when I took them in i got a different answer. First..the woman at the reception desk looked less than happy to help me. Second, i was told they couldn't take them and didn't even take donations!? After explaining I was told they would accept donations, she asked me if i want to take them to Goodwill!! I politely told her, no i didn't want to take them to Goodwill, i wanted to donate then to my Local Library..but they would not take them at all. Very disappointing experience.

Been coming to the Moncks Corner story time library program for years. Sharon is wonderful! Now we have twins that have just turned two. The story time librarian did a great job today. Can't say the same for staff member Kathy. Her job was to sit by the door and do a head count. Before the program started I closed the glass door to the library program. She turned right around and opened it. And I said can we keep it closed in case one of them wants to run out. She says it's hot. I told her maybe you need to take your sweater off. And if one runs to the door, I need some help. At the end of the program, when they got ready to pass out the color sheets, they took off in different directions. I grabbed one. I’ve rarely had a decent experience at check out. I bring my little one and they are not very engaging and don’t even smile. My final straw today was when I was inquiring about the hold for the aquarium passes. The check out lady seemed annoyed with me from the start and basically told me if I am looking for a specific time to go to not sign up and “just cough it up”. Kind of discouraging for a family struggling trying to find affordable things to do with my little one. I’ll return my books here and make the drive to a different library.
