Bayou Jaq's Seafood Shack

After reading many reviews of Bayou Jaq's I decided to check it out for myself. Being from Baton Rouge, I am very experienced in eating great cajun cuisine. My wife and I had the #1 Cajun Duo and enjoyed it very much. The crab, shrimp, eggs, and potatoes were cooked perfectly. The only reason that I give the food a 4-star rating versus a 5, is because the corn was cold. I believe it was frozen before they boiled it. I would suggest they thaw the food before cooking it. Regardless, I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely return. We were surprised at the lack of customers on our visit, but noticed their roadside sign is small and unlit compared to nearby businesses. I hope their business picks up so we can continue to enjoy this restaurant for years to come.

Hole in the wall Cajun/seafood spot in Edmond. I’ve probably driven by here hundreds of times and never noticed it. The building entrance is kinda weird if you’re not entering directly from the side of the street it’s on, but it’s definitely something you can figure out. My husband and I got the Monday special- 2 for $32 and it was a perfect serving of food for us. We got the bayou mix butter/seasoning which had a little bit of a kick- good for me but on the spicier side for my husband. One thing I would recommend is watching a video on how to open the crab legs up prior to coming. We figured it out eventually with the tools they have but it took some practice. I recently visited this restaurant and had a mixed experience. First, the positives: there was plenty of parking, the atmosphere was great, and the menu had a lot of appealing options. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made us feel comfortable right away. For our meal, we ordered the Big Ole Shrimp Platter. The food was well-seasoned and flavorful, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark. The platter was advertised as 20 shrimp each, yet between two orders we only received a total of 24 shrimp. On top of that, the shrimp was slightly overcooked, the potatoes were undercooked, and everything arrived warm instead of piping hot. Seriously y'all THIS place was phenomenal. The food was finger licking good. Bold flavors, juicy seafood, and a server that was helpful, pleasant and left us leaving with a smile and fully bellies. We will definitely come back 5/5 stars all around!

Everything about this place was great! The food was amazing! I had crab legs which were juicy along with shrimp, sausage and potatoes. Very flavorful!!! Also loved the service as the lady was very attentive and helpful when deciding what to eat. Will definitely be back!!!
