Barrio Taco

If you want authentic Mexican food this is the place. Somewhat pricey but...we'll worth it! The fried plantains are amazing. The empinadas just right and the chips are little salted. Also if you like fruity drinks get yourself an Agua fresca strawberry-cucumber flavor.

I ordered a cheese quesadilla to go and it came cold, wet and soggy at the bottom. The tortilla is good but in the middle is some kind of white cheese that was never fully melted. It was really cheap so I guess it’s to be expected but yeah pretty disappointing overall. My friend got a bowl though and she liked it. Definitely give it a try if you’re not Mexican.

We had a wonderful waiter named Jarrett. He explained the entrees we ordered to us. And was very helpful and kind. I had my first tamales ever, it was very good and I ordered an empano it was delicious too. My husband had the nachos with some kind of shredded beef. He loved it. We shared the Leche cake which was sweet and moist and we had enough to take some home. We definitely will be coming back.

The smoked chicken wings were very good, the asada tostada was pretty ok but the chorizo mac and cheese tasted like powdery hamburger helper. It was unusually nasty. Like easy Mac made in a pain filled with old chorizo grease and a cup of dry bread crumbs. It was disgusting. 🤢

The location is within a shopping center. You are able to find parking on the front, side, or back of the building. You may entere from the front or back of the location. When we entered it was painters and construction men in the restaurant. Windows being painted while others have tools and electrical lines in the floor. We did received a welcome intro by several employees and we were asked if this was to be in dinning or takeout. We had to dine in since it was our last meal in OC before heading home. The places only had us and another couple that came in after us. I did notice they had a few people at the bar. Our waiter was wonderful and was prompt to take our drinks and order. The food is $$ but it doesn't lack flavor. One taco is a little over $6. We loved the tamales the best. The re
