Banzai Sushi Japanese Restaurant Lyndhurst Nj

I came in right after a group of people close to 10pm and the restaurant closed at 11pm. I was told by the Spanish lady that dine in was not an option anymore but I noticed the group of people were dining in who came in within a minute or two before me. I felt that wasn’t right but disregarded it. I ordered three filet mignon habachis to go and won’t be going there again due to the lady dismissing me but attending to the other customers.

I ordered the green mountain roll. Which contains spicy tuna crunchy, cucumber & topped with avocado. There’s barely any tuna in the roll. My boyfriend ordered the hibachi chicken dinner. Extremely dry and bland. We had to add our own seasoning and sauces. Not only did I pay almost $50 for two items. They had the audacity to ask for a tip when it was a takeout order. Unfortunately, the food does not taste the same since new management & owners!

I ordered the Hibachi Bonzai Special. I had purchased a voucher through a Clipp magazine for $30 and used it for this purchase. The front person initially did not want to honor my voucher, but after some back and forth, the voucher was accepted. I had to pay a few extra bucks beyond the voucher amount, paid in cash, but the guy never gave me my change. Not a good look. As for the food quality, I am relieved I didn't pay full price! I requested rare steak but received well-done. The shrimp were tiny, rubbery, and overcooked. There were only 5 (I counted) dry mushroom pieces. The meal included two 1 oz containers of super salty and tasteless sauces. Overall, a very disappointing experience, and I will not be returning.

Everything was delicious and the service was very fast. It's great for us to have such a good place so close to our home.

You know it’s too good to be true when the overall rating is a 5.0 My friend and I got here around 6:30 on a Sunday and we were the only 2 in the restaurant. We got menus and no one came to take our order. While we waited, we got up and grabbed beverages for ourselves from the fridge that was in the dining area. We didn’t get glasses of water, napkins, plates or utensils. Finally our server comes over. She was not at all personable. She didn’t say a word- just looked at us and waited for us to tell her what we wanted. She didn’t seem to know the menu well because she needed me to point at the items I ordered. Nigiri sushi and a small house salad- seemed to be foreign to her. We got 2 pieces of a roll ‘on the house’ and she served us the plate alone- mind you, we still haven’t gotten plates
