Loved the food at Balqees in Falls Church. We tried the slow-roasted lamb with rice—so tender and absolutely delicious. The falafel sandwich was very fulfilling, and the lamb broth soup was rich and flavorful. We also ordered the grape leaves starter and baba ghanoush; while we weren’t very familiar with grape leaves, everything tasted good overall. Portions were generous. We’ll definitely be coming back!
We came both for dinner and for brunch. Cannot recommend the breakfast platter and the cheese rolls enough, they are delicious and worth every penny. You simply have to get the latte flight. Eddie was our waiter and he did an amazing job! Thanks so much
Tried Balqees for dessert and tea. We ordered the crème brûlée, za’atar fries, a shai chai pot, and the Nutella milk cake. Total came out to around $60, which felt expensive for what we got. The standout was the Nutella milk cake which was genuinely delicious, rich without being overly sweet, and easily the highlight of the visit. The crème brûlée was good and well-executed, according to my sister. The za’atar fries were acceptable but not memorable, and the shai chai tea was just okay, nothing that justified the price. Overall, the quality was uneven: one excellent dessert and drink, the rest fairly average. Worth visiting if you’re specifically craving the milk cake, but the value doesn’t fully match the cost.
Everything about Balqees was amazing! I came out for their breakfast where they have a huge variety of traditional Yemeni dishes. The staff was so nice and help me pick the right dishes. Their milk cakes were absolutely amazing too! Definitely stop by and give them a visit. Will be coming back to try their hookah soon!
Good point: The food tastes very good. Bad points: The staff are not professional and competent. The tea cups they gave us were chipped. The staff were not attentive at all. We had to walk to them asking for our check as no one came to us for it. We had to ask for water several times before they bring it for us. Basically there’s a lot to work on.
