Back Bay Barbeque

Happened to be driving back to ocean city and saw the smokers running off the side of the road. Decided it was worth a trip. They have so many options of meats and sides. It is cash only, but they do have an atm. The staff was extremely friendly. Inside or outside seating. It is a BYOB. They do take out. I would recommend .

Back Bay Barbeque is a small, family owned barbeque business that offers homemade barbeque and sides is a cozy and welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. This place is located right off Longpoint Somers Point Boulevard in Somers Point, New Jersey. They have a colorful backyard with outdoor seating and an air conditioned inside with plenty of room for big party's playing country music that fits the bbq mood. The food was okay and drinks could have been better but a big thing that this place has going for them is that you can bring your own booze! They don't have their liquor license here but that doesn't let them stop you from drinking if you want to bring your own. This place has lots of potential but it’s not there yet. I was greeted by a lovely white dog that hangs out on the premises but found service un-accommodating once I realized there was no where to sit and eat once you order a take out. Realizing I made a mistake I wasn’t given a choice to reorder sitting at a table and the staff kept packing my bag to go without giving me any options. Kind of unwelcoming. Half the ribs were dry and tough, the cheesy Mac n cheese is pathetic, small ear pasta doused in butter is what it looked and tasted like (do not get it), the cornbread was disappointing and crumby like sand, fell apart in my hands, but the beens were good. I noticed their brisket sits in liquid and I personally like the drier and more roasted taste to it so glad I didn’t order that. Por

I tried to eat slowly..... but that FOOD!!!! This is some of the best BBQ I've had in a long time! They're smoking it right outside the patio and the smell is enchanting. The spices are just right. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my love had the jerk chicken. Each one was pulled high with meat and that's unbelievable considering the price, which is very reasonable. We're camping here through harvest hosts and had the sample yesterday with a side of Mac and Cheese and potato salad. Today our sides were coleslaw which was super fresh and crispy, and the cowboy beans which had just the right smoky flavor. I will be back for more, for sure! They're also dog friendly here and are super nice people!

The quality of the food has changed in the past year or so, not sure if it's under new management but we ordered a large tray of BBQ chicken for the family and it was not good at all, it dry and way to burnt for my taste. The corn on the cob is good, shrimp skewers are good, but I'd avoid the chicken. Great BBQ chicken , Shrimp skewers , corn on Cob , slaw. Great for take out or stay and enjoy outdoor dining. And best of all, your pup is welcome.
