It’s been 14 years since I’ve had the juices of an Azama Grill shawarma rolling down my arms but I still drool about it whenever it crosses my mind. I’ve scoured the likes of every Mediterranean/Egyptian/Lebanese/Greek restaurant across Florida and have found no comparison, only a second favorite. I used to order the beef/lamb shawarma at a minimum of 3x a week and would have eaten it every day without ever tiring of it if my budget would have allowed (luckily I lived within walking distance) and back then it was mostly operated by a gentleman with black curly hair and the service was always exceptional… just like the food. I can’t wait to visit Boston this summer to hit up Azama again and see if the gold medal still stands, but if you’re contemplating this little hole in the wall spot, do
I needed a quick snack while I was waiting for a family member to get her hair done next door. I ordered the baba ghanouj, which comes with pita. Incredibly delicious, homemade baba! Chunks of smoky eggplant, fresh herbs, so flavorful - perhaps the best I've had, and I love this dish. I want it come back now and try their entrees and other spreads. Highly recommend.
My friend and I ordered 2 shawarma roll ups and they both were disgusting and dry. We spent $30 which is way too expensive and returned home to upset stomachs. Food was old and dry and portion size showed that management was clearly cutting costs unfairly onto the customer. Used to be a regular customer years ago, will never return. Update** we both had food poisoning.
Ordered several items from Uber eats as part of a bogo deal including, veggie wrap, grape leaves, Egyptian fries, and baklava The wrap was great and def one of my favorites in the city so far. The sauces were very flavorful and it was stuffed. I also ordered some sauce on the side, but it looks like I got all three as part of the fries or wrap. The garlic and spicy garlic are amazing but the harissa seems to have too much black pepper in it. Fries were a large portion and baklava and grape leaves were what you'd expect. Thought the delivery was fast and very well packaged.
My recent visit to Azama was a letdown. I ordered the mix shawarma over rice, but the dish lacked flavor and the beef shawarma was dry. Service was sluggish, and the ambiance couldn't salvage the experience. Azama has room for improvement. I can't recommend it in its current state.
