AUXFORD - THE MARKET

Having spent the past two years living in Castine, I’ve seen this market evolve and I’m genuinely impressed by where it’s headed. Back when it was T&C Market, you could tell the place was aging. It felt like the ownership had checked out. So when it was sold, rebranded as Castine Market, and began undergoing renovations, I was skeptical. It felt like it might become another case of out-of-towners swooping into a small town, squeezing out profits, and stripping away the character. But that’s not what happened. The new ownership is putting in serious work — not just to modernize the space, but to build something better for the community. They’re responsive to what people want. If there’s something they don’t carry and you ask for it, odds are it’ll be stocked the next time you walk in. The

Great market. Fantastic prepared food and daily specials. Fresh veg, yay! and they kindly ordered my favorite wine.

I love our little store in the village of Castine. They have some nice food options, local products and the pizza is pretty good :-) Booze, beer, wine, deli, breakfast sandwiches ready to go; gas is also available. Parking gets limited on some days but not bad---easy in and easy out. The owner works her bu** off right along side workers.

Had two very different experiences here. During the first visit the staff member was not friendly at all and acted like we were inconveniencing her by asking for assistance. I was trying to buy a cooler and the staff member acted like it was my fault that it wouldn’t fit through the plexiglass partition. The staff member then complained about us being in the store to someone that called . My second experience was great. The staff was very friendly and super helpful and even gave us a great recommendation for lunch.

Overall very friendly, selection is ok. There pizza they bake on site is good quality my only gripe is look them up on Google and the store hours say there open till 9pm on Fridays but I get there a 8:50pm its raining hard, lights are off and the only reason I went out is for my pregnant wife and now she's mad at me when I get back. I'm guessing they close at 8pm now but the hours haven't been updated online
