I've literally been patronizing this business every Tuesday for the last 15 years, but today I was appalled by the hosts behavior. The restaurant was empty and I originally ordered to go. My Uber got delayed by 10 mins, so I asked if I could sit down at a table to start eating. Not only would she not allow me to do so, but she had the most poor attitude. I've never really experienced this here, but trust is my and my kids' last time buying from Aroi...sadly.
Came here on a whim with my toddler. Place was almost empty on a Saturday night but their takeout business seemed strong. Atmosphere was lovely, service was attentive and food came out hot and in a timely manner. It's very reasonably priced compared to spots closer to downtown within .5 miles and I thought the food was great. I'd come back here. I enjoyed the curry puffs, the fried tofu, a spicy tuna roll, the basil fried rice, the drunken noodles, and a Thai tea. I wish I had gotten pictures, the serving sizes were great and presentation was lovely.
Went back and forth between 4-5 stars because the food is good but the service/vibe/prices could be better. The seaweed salad is delicious and I loved all the sushi we got! The drinks are pricey and there’s no happy hour - which seems kind of silly when the place is completely empty on a Tuesday early evening. Even with it being empty, the service was quite slow. All that said, I would go back for the sushi!
In DC for vacation and this is the first restaurant my sisters and I stop in for food! And the food does not disappoint! It’s definitely one of the best Thai food we have ever head. The green curries, eggplant stir fry, and fried tofu we got was just amazing! The staff are very friendly! Could go on forever with positive things to say! We plan on stopping by this restaurant again before leaving DC.
Food - I LOVE drunken noodles. So imagine my disappointment when I took the first bite and bit into soggy, flavorless, and oillly noodles. I shoulda known when the food was done in literally 5 minutes. (The places I usually go take at least 15 minutes to ensure freshness and flavor). I ordered extra spicy and it wasn’t even that; Idk if pepper was even added with how bland this is😭😭. $16 down the drain 😔 Service - I ordered pickup so I don’t know what their service is typically like but I did have to come back inside because no utensils or napkins were placed in the bag and I feel like that’s just common courtesy when packing food?
