Anderson's is a local family owned (maybe not anymore, I don't know) business, a fact I greatly appreciate. And it has many devoted patrons. I'm just not one of them. At almost $24 for a sandwich (Carl's choice) large sweet potato fries, pickle, and pop. I personally expect better quality. The meat is ok, but hardly better than Arby's, fries decent but not anything to get excited about. And the pickle had good flavor but a mushy gross texture. This food didn't travel so it shouldn't look road worn.. but it does. I was given a gift certificate. So that's why I went there. While in route I wondered to myself why I don't more frequently go to Anderson's. Today's lunch taught me why.
Anderson's roast beef sandwich is amazing. Tender, thinly-sliced beef piled high on a kimmelweck roll with salt and caraway seeds. The horseradish spread is a sharp, sinus-clearing kick, which makes the juicy beef taste even better. Then the vanilla/rich chocolate custard, is creamy, cold and sweet. Definitely worth it!! I'm going back to Buffalo soon to try more of their menu.
We love Anderson’s ice cream! It’s always a fan favorite and we’re devoted customers. I will say I don’t love the changes to the food menu though. Bring back the old fries and the Asiago chicken caesar wrap! There are only a few healthier options left on the menu and they’re honestly very mid. A little disappointing.
Anderson's was a childhood staple of mine and I usually look forward to coming back. I get things keep getting more expensive, but the prices here have become insane. Almost $8 for a Styrofoam cup of mac and cheese? $5 for a one scoop ice cream cone? Crazy. And the quality has also lessoned. The mac and cheese tasted gritty. The ice cream tasted freezer burned. The roast beef sandwiches seemed quite thin. The only thing positive was the portion size of the fries.
Service was great and got our food in decent amount of time. This was our first time trying beef-on-weck and it was a sandwich to remember! Custard was also great. A little pricey but what isn’t these days.
