Alturas Main Library

Nice little library. The most amazing thing is the staff. I was sitting out front eating something, and one of them came out and gave me a strong clear plastic fork and spoon. I had the same utensils in my backpack that I'd bought at REI (outdoor gear store) but didn't bother using them/washing them. It was just the gesture that was soooo nice. The other employee had helped me earlier in the day with finding resources in town. So nice and so helpful. It's pretty impressive. The library itself has good resources and has it's own little personality. Above average for a small town library. I did read books while there.

Cozy place to spend a hot summer day or cold winter day. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. At least 5 computers accessible for internet access. CD's of music, movies, Native American Book Section of History (see picture). There is also more than what is pictured as it is not able to fit in the front section of the library. Bathroom is tidy. Journal of Modoc County Historical Society Volume 1 to 37.... Check out the Bookworm next door which is AWASH with used books. Take the room in the back as it is $1 for a BAG OF BOOKS. Organized as best they can with the continual drop-off supply of books. You need whatever your 'it' is ? They most likely will have it...you just might have to exert a tiny bit of effort to find your 'it'. .... so don't forget about touching good 'ol paperback a

The staff at the library are great. I check out audiobooks, mostly. They help the miles pass in the truck. The library has a large selection of audiobooks. They can be checked out for up to two weeks.

This place is a wonderful small town library. So much character and very helpful employees.

A real old-fashioned Library, with books, you can read videos and DVDs for up to a week, and the people are more than helpful, so go to the library and read a book.
