Althea Bread

The absolute best sour dough I have ever tasted. I signed up for the bread club in 2021 and the delivered a fresh loaf straight out of the oven during Covid. I’m so happy they now have a store front. Everything is sour dough with ancient grains. It is the highlight of my week to receive their fresh loaf baked hours before delivery. The bread feels so good in my body and doesn’t spike my blood sugar. I am forever a fan and supporter of this business. ♥️

This is the best sourdough bread I have ever had. Thank you for coming to IX Park every week! EDIT-I have since learned that they have closed their doors, and are no longer baking. I wish them well and thank them for their products and service over the years.

Super friendly staff, incredible baked goods (I like the cretzels, red corn sourdough, pumpkin cookies, and chocolate chip cookies), and a nice location.

I was sad when Bowerbird, my favorite bakery, closed. However I was delighted when I learned another bakery would be opening in the same location, and I was even more delighted when I chomped into a pretzel croissant and almond/chocolate croissant, which may actually somehow be better than bowerbird's (Don't tell Earl!).

I have been purchasing sourdough and other goodies from their stall at the RVA big market for weeks, and trust me when I say this is some of the best bread I have ever had in my life. The pretzel croissants in particular are immaculate! The sourdough is the perfect mix of tart and sweet, and I never manage to keep the loaf around for more than a few hours. I haven't purchased a single thing that wasn't absolutely incredible, you cannot go wrong here!
